Today students took the Canada and Australia test. The grades have been entered into the computer and any/all makeup work that was turned in today was also entered. The only thing I haven't put in yet are the warm ups from this week (22).

Today we did individualized targeted learning activities based on yesterday's formative assessment. Hopefully that helped you identify what you need to focus on when studying tonight. Don't forget to reference the What Should I Be Studying? paper (you can find a copy of it in an earlier blog post).

Today we got a new warm up sheet, finished our Canada and Australia notes, distributed a What Should I Be Studying? sheet, and worked on a European Colonization of Australia activity.

Today we watched our CNN10 video, checked answers to the government chart, and got an economics vocabulary assignment.

Chorus students (absent Thursday): make sure you got the "Factors of Trade" notes from a friend; if you didn't, then make sure you ask someone on Monday.
Band/orchestra students (absent today): you need to look at yesterday's blog post to see the answer key for the government chart, and you should have gotten the Economics Vocabulary page from me yesterday- remember you were supposed to do 11 of the words.
Today we took notes on factors that impact a country's GDP and began looking at the economies of Canada and Australia. We will finish the economies of Canada and Australia on Monday, and then we'll discuss the history standards for both countries.

BAND/ORCHESTRA STUDENTS: I should have received your warm ups today- if not, I need them during homeroom. Check your government comparison chart using the answer key below. At the end of class today I gave you an Economics Vocabulary paper- you need to complete 11 of the words by writing an example OR drawing a picture (no color needed) showing the meaning of the term.
Today we took some notes on economic systems. Chorus/band/orchestra people: I will get you the makeup work tomorrow or Friday, depending on which day you'll be in class.
Homework: be studying the notes from class each day for a BIG TEST over Australia and Canada on 2/15 (next Friday)
Today we got our new teacher notes, collected yesterday's assignment, and filled out a graphic organizer on the governments of Australia and Canada.
Today I was out in the morning (my daughter had a doctor's appointment) but everyone worked on the Where Do Australians Live? graphic organizer. Below are the powerpoints that were around the room (the maps are on there too). Be sure to read the directions for the paragraph on the bottom.

I have taught for the past ten years and couldn't imagine doing anything else. Subjects I have taught include 6th and 7th grade science, 6th grade social studies, and 7th grade reading. I have been married for 6 years and we have two girls: Jordan (4) and Emma (1).
